HARRY SHIPP

How old were you when you first started playing, who taught you to play and who most influenced your development as a young player?
I started playing rec league at age five and Sole was my first travel coach at age eight. Frank Klopas also taught me a great deal about the game.

What's been the single best moment of your soccer career thus far, at any level of competition?
Scoring the game-tying goal as a freshman for Lake Forest High School with less than a minute to go against the state's top-ranked team, Warren. Also winning the OPP national championships.

What are your long-term goals in the sport?
I want to play professionally, hopefully in Europe, and one day play in the World Cup.

What has been the most valuable aspect of being trained by the Academy coaches?
The constant pressure they put on you to improve on and off the field.

What has training with the Academy taught you about yourself as a player and where do you need improvement?
I need to get physically more developed. I also think my one-touch passing in tight spaces could increase.

What is the most difficult part of training with the Academy?
The focus put on technical improvement at the beginning of training sessions are a grind.

Does the training differ from past training you've had, and in what way?
Not really, especially working with Sole.

Which of your Academy teammates impresses you the most and why?
Billy impresses me the most because he isn't the fastest or the strongest player but he uses his mind to outsmart opposing strikers.

Which of the other U-16 or U-18 Academy players impresses you and why?
Elliot Borge impresses me because he has a great combination of size and skill and seems like a good leader.
