JESUS MEDINA

How old were you when you first started playing, who taught you to play and who most influenced your development as a young player?
I was about five or six when I first started playing. The two people that taught me and influenced me the most to keep trying and to get better were my dad, Luis A. Medina, and my brother Flaco, Luis A. Medina, Jr.

What's been the single best moment of your soccer career thus far, at any level of competition?
My single best moment of my career thus far was when we went to North Carolina to watch the U-18's win their first game.

What are your long-term goals in the sport?
My long-term goal is to become a pro and to go play in the Spanish League for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

What has been the most valuable aspect of being trained by the Academy coaches?
The most valuable aspect when being trained by an academy coach is that we get trained to be at the next level and they help us get better than we are now.

What has training with the Academy taught you about yourself as a player and where do you need improvement?
That I don't check over my shoulders as much as I need to and that I have to think quicker, play quicker and get rid of the ball faster. I need improvement on getting ahead of the game.

What is the most difficult part of training with the Academy?
The most difficult part of training is all of the practice but we have to give it our all to get to the next level. Also, we have to think quicker and play faster.

Does the training differ from past training you've had, and in what way?
Yes, the training differs from past training I've had because before the game was slow and as we kept working, the better and faster the game got and we also started thinking quicker.

Which of your Academy teammates impresses you the most and why?
The teammate that impresses me the most is Victor because he tries his very best in every practice and because you never know what he's going to do next.

Which of the other U-16 or U-18 Academy players impresses you and why?
From the U-18's I will have to say B because he's a type of player that's ahead of the game and impressive. He knows what he's going to do with the ball before it gets to him.
