MIKE ENGHOFER

How old were you when you first started playing, who taught you to play and who most influenced your development as a young player?
I was four whe I started playing. My dad got me started and I was influenced by my neighbor, Vangel Nacovski, who played at IUPUI and the Chicago Storm.

What's been the single best moment of your soccer career thus far, at any level of competition?
Winning Super-Y Nationals in Tampa, Florida.

What are your long-term goals in the sport?
To become a pro and to let the sport pay for college.

What has been the most valuable aspect of being trained by the Academy coaches?
Not the tactical but mental aspect of the game that they share with you.

What has training with the Academy taught you about yourself as a player and where do you need improvement?
That you can always get better. I also need to improve my speed of play.

What is the most difficult part of training with the Academy?
Keeping up with the speed of play.

Does the training differ from past training you've had, and in what way?
Yes, there is much more preparation and purpose.

Which of your Academy teammates impresses you the most and why?
Harry Shipp is creative and provides a unique spark. Bryan Ciesiulka is a distributor who rarely loses the ball. Woj is a hard worker and great finisher in all aspects. And Billy McGuinness is a great defender who rarely loses a tackle.

Which of the other U-16 or U-18 Academy players impresses you and why?
Victor since I've never seen a player handle the ball the way that he does.
