Hersey 2, Stevenson 0 (2OT)
All the game's scoring came in overtime as Casey Weyhrich scored off a Lauren Gierman assist and Gierman hitting a left-footed cracker from 25 yards out to the side netting, both in the first overtime period. The Huskies will next take on Carmel in a 3A sectional semifinal match.

Plainfield North 3, Oswego 0
Ashley Handwork scored three goals and Shanya Dheel added two assists in the win, sending Plainfield North to a 3A sectional semifinal against Waubonsie Valley next week.


WEDNESDAY, MAY 15
Downers Grove South 10, Willowbrook 1
After a quick goal from Willowbrook in the first minute of the game, the Mustangs responded with 10 unanswered goals, 6 by freshmen. Lexi Dimovski went into the game as a sub at the 30 minute mark and scored on an unassisted goal 2 minutes later. Fellow freshman Autumn Rasmussen then finished off a fake from Emily Wauer. Dimovski would then find teammate Nicole Janowiak at the top of the box to pull the Mustangs to a 4-1 lead. Rasmussen added to the lead off a feed from Stephanie Zurales. Zurales would then end the scoring frenzy in the first half with her own goal. The scoring continued in the second half as Dimovski found the back of the net two times in a 30 second span, one a header goal off a cross from Stephanie Hall. Janowiak, Rasmussen, and Jenny Adams would finish up the scoring for the Mustangs. South (13-8-1) will host Benet Saturday in the regional final.

The Dukes got goals from Bryce Banuelos, Jamie Kovatchis, Annalisa Lappo, and Edith Flores, and assists from Alyssa Kovatchis, Annalisa Lappo, and Flores.

Naperville Central 4, Bolingbrook 0
Abby Joyce, Grace Orndorff, Autumn Muckenhirn, and Veronica Ellis scored for Central (15-4-3), with assists from Orndorff, Ellis, Meredith Tunney, and Nikkie Alore. Abby Hershik was in net for the Redhawks' 12th shutout of the season.

Neuqua Valley 8, West Aurora 0
Gianna Dal Pozzo and Katie Ciesiulka each had two goals and an assist for the Wildcats (15-3-1). Lauren Ciesla, Sabrina Gerogeff, Amanda Fenton, and Shannon Donlon aslo scored in the win, with assists coming from Hope D'Addario, Brooke Ksiazek, Kiley Czerwinski, Dannah Williams, Taylor Sparbanie, and Abby Mazur. Courtney Keefer was in net for Neuqua's 14th shutout of the year.

 

TUESDAY, MAY 14
Glenbard East 2, Downers Grove North 0
The Rams' Veronica Fairbairn posted her 10 shutout of the season in net and in the process became the program's all-time career leader with 28 shutouts. Alex Ruffer and Brittany Paganucci scored for East (11-5-4) while the Trojans' season ended at 8-9-0. The Rams will take on Lyons Township in a Class 3A regional title game on Friday.

Carmel 5, Rolling Meadows 0
Carmel (17-1-0) got two goals from Elizabeth Bream and one apiece from Meegan Johnston, Annie DeVenere, and Maggie Avampato, plus two assists from Caitlin Murphy and one apiece from DeVenere, Sarah Bowles, and Colleen Foley. Jenna Bauer was in net for Carmel's 12th shutout of the season.

Hersey 7, Waukegan 0
Casey Weyhrich scored a hat-trick and Lauren Gierman had 2 goals and 2 assists to lead the Huskies (12-4-5), while Amy Kappelman and Sarah Magnuson struck once apiece. Hersey will host Stevenson in a Class 3A regional title game on Friday.

Benet 10 Farragut 0
Katie Baumann and Kate Hennessy each had two goals in the win for Benet (16-4-1).  Meaghan O'Hara, Amanda Kaiser, Ellie Bumpus, Carissa Tsouchlos, Hannah Pfeiffer, and Amanda Smairat also scored for the Redwings.

Metea Valley 5, Plainfield Central 0
Jenna Kentgen scored twice for Metea Valley (10-6-1), which also got a goal apiece from Alena Sidwell, Rachel Warnock, and Cailin La Rocque. Sidwell, Haley Wentz, Warnock, and Caleigh Purcell all assisted in the win over the Wildcats (8-13-2). Megan Geldernick and Kylie Dunning shared time in net in the Mustangs' 5th shutout of the year. Metea Valley will take on Waubonsie Valley in a Class 3A regional title game on Friday.

St. Francis 10, Kennedy 0
The Spartans (15-1-0) got two goals apiece from Taylor Van Thournout, Alexa Zepeda, and Sarah Rahman, and one apiece from Kaity Bucaro, Andrea Ravlin, and Anna Vonderhaar. Kaity Bucaro also had three assists, Emma Fickle had two, and St. Francis got one assist each from Corky Hart and Regan Kasprak.

Shayna Dheel had two goals and two assists and the Tigers (20-3-0) got two goals apiece from Ashley Handwork and Brooke Polonus, and one from Heather Handwork in the win.

Meegan Johnston netted 4 goals and had 1 assist, and Elizabeth Bream had 1 goal and 2 assists to lead the Corsairs (17-1-0). Carmel also got goals from Claire Ogrinc, Caitlin Murphy, Bri Carlson, and Kayla Handel, and assists from Handel, Sadie Jung, Annie DiVenere, and 2 from Katie Sandecki, while Jenna Bauer made 1 save in the team's 11th shutout of the year.

TUESDAY, MAY 7

The Mustangs (12-7-1) finished up conference 6-0 after a 10-0 win over visiting Proviso East. Senior Kelly Stapleton had 4 goals for the Mustangs (assists by Autumn Rasmussen, Ava Porlier and Jess Koehler). Also scoring for South was freshman Autumn Rasmussen, Brittney Dietz (assist Rasmussen), Nicole Janowiak, Jenny Adams (assist Lexi Dimovski), Ava Porlier (off a free kick), and Stephanie Zurales (assist Koehler). Downers South will wrap up the regular season at York on Thursday night.

Bryce Banuelos had 3 goals and 2 assists to lead the Dukes (11-4-2). ,Kylie Bowman, Kate Leonard, Alyssa Kovatchis, Jamie Kovatchis, and Kelly Fendley also netted goals, with Kyle Bowman getting two assists and Alyssa Kovatchis earning one.

Naperville Central 2, West Chicago 0
Veronica Ellis and Alison Kincaide scored for the Redhawks (14-4-3, 6-1-0 in DVC play) with Amanda Murphy, Autumn Muckenhirn, and Abby Joyce chipping in assists. Abby Hershik was in net for the team's 13th shutout of the season. West Chicago finished the regular season 10-9-3 overall and 1-5-1 in DVC play.

The Warriors (9-8-3, 6-1 in SCC play) got a goal from Anne Hillstrom on a Kate Lindsay assist.

Neuqua Valley 7, Streamwood 0
Gianna Dal Pozzo had a hat-trick and Lauren Ciesla struck twice for Neuqua Valley (14-3-1), which also got goals from Tatiana Espinoza and Katie Ciesiulka. Hope D'Addario had two assists in the win, with Ciesiulka, Kiley Czerwinski, and Talise Romain getting one apiece.

McCabe and Rachel Suarez each scored and assisted in a 2-0 win over Pleasant Valley, IA, with Eileen McTigue in net for both shutouts.

The Lancers (9-4-1) got two goals from Megan Lindbert and one from Caitlyn Ryba in winning this year's Lake Park/Rolling Meadows Invite.

The Wildcats (8-2-1) got first-half goals from Katie Ciesiulka (assist to Shannon Donlon), Kiley Czerwinski (assist to Ksiazek), Lauren Ciesla (assist to Hope D'Addario), and Ciesla (assist to Dal Pozzo), and another from Ciesiulka (assist to Dal Pozzo) in the second half in the win over the Tigers (5-4-1). Courtney Keefer was in goal and made 1 save in the shutout for Neuqua.

The North Stars (11-1-0) won in Milwaukee on an Alex Gage freekick goal scored early in the second half from just outside the 18 box. The win marked the North Stars' 11th shutout in 12 games.

The Wildcats (1-1) got goals from Andie Lazzerini and Maddie Aguilar and assists from Kayla Kirkwood and Alexa Vega on the road at Schaumburg. "(WEGO goalkeeper Gaby Navejas) made three tremendous saves for us and we're pleased with the victory. It was a great job, and great teamwork today," West Chicago coach Cesar Gomez said.

The defending Class 2A champs opened the season with a win in Carol Stream, with Andrea Ravlin scoring off a Taylor Bucaro assist.

The Warriors (2-0) won their quarterfinal match of the Windy City Classic, with Emily Wyskiel and Hope Rackelin getting two goals and an assist each.  Additional goals were scored by Natalie Tannura, Brianna Heyer, and Jenna Serrano, with assists by Kara Winans(2), Kendall Watson, and Natalie Tannura.  Kayla Lojas recorded her second shutout of the season in goal.  

Plainfield North 7, Lane Tech 2
The Tigers (1-0) got three goals from Ashley Handwork and one apiece from Heather Handwork, Shayna Dheel, Sara Stevens, and Megan Erickson. Assists came from Ashley Handwork, Heather Handwork, Shayna Dheel, Sara Stevens, Kaela Leskovar, Sam Elster, and Brooke Polonus.

The Knights' Rachel Suarez scored off an assist from Emily Novak and "(goalkeeper) Eileen McTigue recorded the shutout and played outstanding behind a strong defensive effort from her backline," Prospect coach Tom Froats said.

Michelle Mottonen scored for the Vikings and keeper Christine Piasecki had six saves in the shutout.

Emily Wyskiel and Cori Brennan scored for the Warriors off of assists by Katie Brncich and Brianna Darlage.  Kayla Lojas recorded the shutout in goal. West advances to the quarterfinals of the Windy City Ram Classic.
